A Day in the Life of a Developer
18 May
It has been quite a while since I last updated you on the status of BackendPro. Some of you may have been following the SVN and will know things are moving forward. A few people are now using the new code and reporting bugs which I am very grateful for.
Currently I am trying to put together the user guide for the code. The old guide was focused mostly around the classes available and what methods were available. The new guide will have all of this but will also contain detailed instuctions and examples of how to actualy use BackendPro to create a site. For example:
For the mean time I have also checked in the first copy of the new Installer. I have designed the new installer to provide a more ‘complete’ process. It hopefully will guide you through the process and help you a lot more than the old one.

Thieving bugger
This is coming along nicely. Race you to v1.0!
NICE
looking forward to the release , i have big plans for it .
any news when it will be available ?
is the new version using ci2.0?
Hi!
I´m pretty new to CI and BP, but I was able to develop a working cms in two weeks time. still working on it though.
My question for the author: can I put assets in each module and somehow load it like helper, libraries,…
I would also like to use image controler to work with different directories.
thanks for your help and keep up the good work!
Where´s the v1.0 adapted for PHP5 and new fatures?
Its not finished yet, and due to other commitments I haven’t been able to work on it for a while. You can always grab the dev code from the SVN, its in one of the branches.
@Anze Jarni: No you can’t do this with assets. I think the image controller can be told to search different folders. If not it wouldn’t be a very big change.
Dear Adam.
Looks very good. I tried the latest version from SVN, but couldn’t get it working on my local machine, because permission check doesn’t seem to work correct.
I set config and database file permission to 666 (and all other combinations
), but installation always tell me that it’s not correct.
Working environment:
Mac OS X 10.6.4
MAMP
Do you have any hints?
Regards,
Christian.
Hi Adam
Looks impressive, nice work
Have you started to integrate Janrain Engage yet? (Used to be Janrain RPX)
Cheers
Richard
I was thinking of building something similar to this myself I am super interested in contributing.
Im looking to get access to the SVN. When I click on it and signup it says I don’t have access?
my username is hakboy on assembla if you need it to allow access.
Oh Adam, rrealy excited about 1.0 branch!
Is is testable? I mean if the planned functions of the 1.0 branch on assemla are beta-implemented and is it ready at last for testing?
this is really cool …
i can learn something about logic behind it .. i really love code igniter
Thanks Adam
Any news about compatibility of the old 0.6.x or new 1.0 versions with codeigniter 2.0?
@Brian: You can download from the svn without registering just use http://svn2.assembla.com/svn/backendpro/
@Alex: No its not quite testable yet, needs some area’s to be finished off first.
@tudo75: It will require CI 2.0. It also has major changes to some of the old classes so probably won’t be 0.6 compatible. I couldn’t make it easy to develop in upgradable without re-writing and re-designing large parts of the code
I just tried to install it but I always get the following error:
date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system’s timezone settings.
Anyone knows how to fix it?
Any plans to move the repository to GitHub or Bitbucket? It might help with getting more community involvement.
I have thought about that for that very reason, I am just trying to get time to work on the code at the moment. Too much to do at the moment with new job interviews and the like can only get an hr or so here and there.
waiting for the vesion 1.0
Adam give us news for version 1.0 .. February 2011?
Thanks and congratulations for your project.
What’s the word on v1?
This project is appearing very interesting. I could really have used something like it, but unfortunately my current project requirements need DataMapper for my database needs, and I’m currently partial to Ion Auth for validation. Any chance of creating a hook system to allow implementers to choose feature resources appropriate to their projects?
when will v1 release?
